What does this white colored icon mean that is on the clip? It looks like a strip of film between two brackets. I am using VS 11.5. I don't know what effect the icon stands for and there are no filters or effects listed on the Attribute tab for this video clip. The clip seems unaltered when played in the Preview Window.

Hovering your mouse over it doesn't reveal anything?

I always thought this indicated that smart proxy files had been created.

So if an AVCHD clip for example is placed in the timeline and use smart proxy is set in preferences, the clips are converted to mpeg2 for "ease" of editing.

Hovering with the mouse gives no information about the icon. I agree it could mean the clip is a smart proxy file though I think that setting for the clip is disabled.

I looked in the PDF VS manual but the smart proxy icon looks like an "L" and is positioned differently on the clip.

What's the source of the video clip, and what are it's properties? This could give us a clue as to what and where that icon comes from.

This is the properties from the clip. The clip was a capture from a Canon HV20 camcorder tape in Hi-Def.

That icon is for Smart Proxy. I just replicated it using Smart Proxy. Once the SP file is created, VS places that same icon on the clip.

Thank you Vidoman for being able to come up with the reason for this particular Icon by duplicating it on your own setup.

Thanks, by the way, for filling in your System specifications/Profile. With your computer, of course, you should have no need of SmartProxy to edit your high definition HDV/mpeg-2 files.
