Stymied at the install stage..VS11.5+ out of box

I have been attempting to install VS11.5+ (a full, out of the box, purchased version) onto my laptop (Sony dual core, 2GB RAM, downgraded to XP with a fresh install), in anticipation of a trip to India, and the installation, although reporting success, fails. The shortcut icon is missing, and there is no vstudio.exe to point to, so, needless to stay, the programme won't run.

Am I doing something silly., Do I need to uninstall from my home PC, to 'release' a license?

I had the same problem. I reinstalled using "Repair" and the shortcuts appeared.
