I have been using Video Studio since VS3 back in 2000 and own licenses for VS11.5 Plus and both DVD Workshop 1 and 2 Express. Last night I installed VS11.5 on my new Vista 64 bit (2.83GHZ Quad Core and 8GB of RAM) system and wow. It will convert standard DV .avi to DVD compliant Mpeg-2 in about .4 of real time. The same program on a Vista 32 bit system (2.4GHZ Quad Core and 4GB of RAM) will convert at about .75 real time.
On the other hand, the DVD creation module won't work at all. Trying to add chapter points in the module crashes the program. It works on the 32 bit system. Also, Smart Rendering of Mpeg 2 with Mpeg audio to DVD compliant Mpeg 2 with Dolby Digital 2 channel doesn't work on either 32 or 64 bit systems. Outputting to the original file's spec's and then batch conversion to Dolby Digital does work.
I am really looking forward to the next version of Video Studio with Smart Rendering working and I am hoping for a new version of DVD Workshop that is Vista 32/64 bit compatible. Is that too much to hope for?
