Sourcefile: From my camcorder, *.avi 1536 bps 720x480 61 Mb 17 sec.
I would like to render it to a *.wmv file, but regardless of what output format I select, I always get the same video file format.
230 kbps, 280x160, 501kb, 17 sec. I would like to produce a clip that is bigger than the 280x160, but it does not make a difference what format I choose, this is the only format I get.
I go on share|createvideofile|wmv| and I try any option, but I still only get the one format.
I'm running windows XP on a laptop lenovo T60p. Videostudio 11+.
Is there any setting that I've missed, or file I must download?
wmv format rendering problem

Welcome to the forums,
In order to have more WMV encoding options, you will need to download and install the Windows Media 9 Encoder.

I have the same problem with rendering files to a *.wmv format. I followed your suggestion , downloaded and installed the Windows Media 9 Encoder from link you provided. But still I can not find more WMV encoding options in my VS 11+.
My OS is Windows XP. I also would like to use VS 11+ for video clip creation in wmv format with 720x480 frame size
Is there something esle I need to get or how I can create new output profile with options I need?
Thanks

In order to access all the codecs/settings the WME 9 Series provides, you need to select Custom on the Share>Create Video File menu. Then in the Save As dialog window, press the drop-down menu and select WMV. Once that is done, press the Options button. In the Options dialog window select the Profiles tab. On the Profiles tab, press the drop-down menu for Profiles. You should have numerous options to choose from.
Then to add to that, you can modify any of them, by clicking the Customize button found at the bottom of the Profiles tab.
