Problem With DVD Movie Factory SE & video editting

Post by Randy L »

Hello and glad I found this forum! I hope I'll be able to get a lot of good info from here, as well as sharing stuff I find out about my setup. Here are my FIRST round of questions:

-- I have the Canon HG10 camcorder with the included DVD Movie Factory SE software. While trying to make a movie, I noticed that when I insert a text caption over the video, the video is jerky with a strobe effect. How do I get the video footage to flow smoothly?

-- I can't find an "UNDO" button in the video editting in the caption and effects screens. How do I remove a video effect that I don't want?

Did you see the "sticky" at the top of the forum? It is for updates if you have a HG10.

You won't get smooth previews because of the high compression used in your source video files which are AVCHD video file (AVC/H264 Codec).

You can remove the text by switching to the timeline view, highlighting the text and hitting the "Delete" key. That's the way MF6Plus full version works.
If the MF5.6se version uses the same timeline as the full version you switch back & forth by hitting the little icon on the top left of the timeline preview.

I haven't used the MF5.6se version so I can only guess it's similar to the MF6+ full versions with the HD-ADD-ON pack.

When you say the video was jerky after inserting text, are you referring to the preview window? If so that will be normal as it is a quick preview - when you actually create (render) the video then it will take quite a while to do so and the completed video should be smooth.

To avoid wasting any discs, at the final stage opt to burn to a hard drive folder rather than to a disc. You can then play the completed video with a software DVD player such as
WinDVD
PowerDVD
Nero Showtime
Even Windows Media Player!
