Is the trial version compatable with the PowerPack?

Post by calanais »

Hi,

I have a Canan HG10, and have used the supplied DVDFactory with some very good results; hence I thought I'd try the VideoStudio 11.5+.

The trial version I have donwloaded (last week) can't open the Canan M2TS AVCHD files directly. After researching these fora the PowerPack is indicated as being required.

Can I install this PowerPack over the Trial Edition - or is it full registered copies only? I would very much like to check the full version and see it working on my original files. (not least to see if how my PC handles the processing required. AMD 64 (dual core))

Thanks,
Matthew

Unfortunately the Power Pack will only work on the full version. Corel do, however, have a 30 day refund policy if you actually buy the full version but are not satisfied with it.

I am not experienced enough with AMD processors to know which of them can handle AVCHD smoothly. With Intel, the processors need to be Core 2 Duo or higher, though the older Dual Core and P4 3.0 GHz with hyperthreading can edit AVCHD using the SmartProxy feature.

However, if your version of Movie Factory works well with your computer (I am assuming it is MF6+) then I would imagine that VS11.5+ would also do so -- if, that is, Canon have not specially tweaked it to work with their cameras. I had, for instance, been under the impression the MF6+ also required a special 'power pack' to make it work properly with AVCHD -- though in this case you have to pay $20 for the privilege, whereas it is free to registered users of VS11+.

Thanks for your post - good to have confirmation and to know that I've not made a stupid installation error.

With the MoveFactory version I do have I can certainly convert some files, and trial VideoStudio with those. Then I can get an idea of workflow, although I admit to a little disappointment that the trial version can't use the AVCHD files - at the least I would have hoped for a brief mention in the trial readme. The feature set as advertised on the webpages looks good to me; credit card was almost out.

Good to know that there is a refund policy just in case things don't quite work out.

As a professional Software Engineer, the same criticism has been leveled at my code at some point! So I can't really complain:-)
