I have a few widescreen source videos that I would like to burn to DVD, but everytime I try it squeezes them into 4:3 and the picture is distorted.
Anybody know how I could use MediaStudio Pro 7 to create a 4:3 letterboxed version of these files? Or if that's not possible, can I use it to crop the source video to 4:3?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Easy;
1. In MSPro's Project Settings set the aspect ratio to 4:3 and turn on "Non-square pixel rendering".
2. right-click the clip and open its Media Source Options. Now set the Stretch Mode to "Keep aspect ratio"
Now do an Instant Preview and the 16:9 clips should be letterboxed in the Preview Windows 4:3 frame.
You'll have the choce of exporting at 16:9 or 4:3 letterboxed. If you export as 4:3 it'll be letterboxed. If 16:9 it'll be non-letterboxed.
Most DVD players will automatically letterbox 16:9 content displayed on a 4:3 device, but the DVD MovieFactory build that comes with MSPro7 may not support exporting with the proper flags.
If your authoring software does support 16:9 output then you'll have to make your choice if you really want to edit letterboxed or just do 16:9 straight through for DVD.
