I tried the trial 11 version several weeks ago and found it did not support AVCHD. I uninstalled and ordered 11.5 Plus I got it yesterday and installed it. I could not get it to run because it "Cannot initialize application" The screen size is to small to play the video. required 1024 x 768 at least. I am running 1280x800. After changing several screen resolutions and nothing working I changed the color from 32bit to 16 bit. All resolutions then worked!
BUT the color was really bad. I tried a short DVD burn to see if the color problem was in the PC, but it was bad on the TV also.
my config: Running Vista home Premium, 2 GB Ram, 60GB free hard disk, NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS, no printer. HP 6500 laptop Centrino Duo T7500 2.20GHz
I sent Corel a email and got this reply:
Thank you very much for your e-mail.
Could you please tell us if you have tried other screen resolution that lets the program run? There will be really a difference in the color when you play it in 16 bit. Have you trid installing the program on other computers? Please try and check if it will run on other computers because we do not encounter problems with the program with the computers here.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further questions.
Kind regards,

Corel Customer Support
I responded and ask to be sent to second level support!
I guess things have changed since I worked tech support,(yea, many years ago, mainframe UCC11), but that is not much of a
reply from a support tech.
Any Ideas/info will be appreciated!!

Well I did it to myself again! Some of us THINK we know a lot about it all!
I had customized my windows font size from the standard 96dpi to 102 dpi because my eyes are not as good as they were 20 years ago. After I returned to standard font size of 96dpi the product would start as it should in 32 bit color.
I am still having problems with the color being rendered correctly when I make a output file or dvd from my video files. This is probably from my inability to use the product correctly yet! But I would still appreciate and input!
Thanks!

HP laptop is the problem
After finely having time to work on this some more, I found the HP lap top appears to be the problem. The color renditioning of the 11.5 product works fine. Sometimes the HP laptop has normal color and sometimes it doesn't. There does not seem to be anything that I do to cause the problem or make it go away. All my dvd burns play correctly on other dvd players.
Anyway, there is not a problem running 11.5.PLUS, other than of my own making, or apparent software problems with my laptop.

After continued testing I found that my problem with the color rendition on the HP laptop was caused mis-configuration of the NVIDIA software for the 8400M GS chip. SOOO.. currently I have found all problems I thought I had with VideoStudio 11.5.PLUS to be non-existence. The product is working fine on the 32 bit Vista Home Premium SP1 OS. Thanks again for all the assistance!
