Error when burning

Post by psvendse »

Hi,
I am an (un)happy new owner of the DVD Picture Show 3 application.
Spend a lot of hours fixing a my first slideshow but when I wanted to burn a DVD the following error message pop up:

Failure error when recording to the disc

Error information:

Class ID: 3181b22a-9728-4087-ae5b-b601c19ead4c
Function ID: 0
Line number: 0

It was 46% in the building of the second slideshow out of total four shows when it happened!

Anyone who knows what this means?

My hardware is
Pentium 4, 1.6 GHZ
Windows XP professional

Failure to Burn

Post by miwi98 »

I'm having the same problem, all of a sudden, but it worked last year (Nov) '04 when I purchased it but maybe the Microsoft Windows Updates I have installed may have something to do with it.

I sent a request to the Ulead's Technical Service today, 04/23/05 and I hope someone will respond. If they do I will post it here.

Anyone out there can help us????

Have you guys tried using "create disc image file" and then use the disc image writer to burn that? I had a similar problem that was cleared up by doing that.

It's an extra step I know, but it's not that big a deal, and it actually renders out faster.

You cam e that far?
I got the program for 4 months now and can't even get to step 3 (burning dvd), even after the update, that makes me very sad.
Maybe I bought the wrong software?

Now I'm getting this error:

Class ID: 3181b22a-9728-4087-ae5b-b601c19ead4c
Function ID: 0
Line number: 0

Has anyone figured out what is causing this error and how to fix it?

I never had this problem when using CD & DVD PictureShow version 2. Then I upgraded to version 3. I created and burned one slideshow successfully. Then I opened and modified slideshows I had created in version 2. These will not burn to dvd, vcd, svd or to disk image file.

hi to everybody
last night I have finally succeeded in completing my started project 3 months ago and ever completed for guilt of the error previously described.
this my solution:
my original photos have a resolution of 1600x1200 pixels, using the function batch process of ulead smart saver pro I have converted all the photos (after having obviously copied the original ones) to the resolution of 800x600 pixels quality 75 that it is the nearest resolution to that of the dvd.
this way I have succeeded in writing my project in a hour.

I have worked so hard putting together this slide show for my third grade class end-of-the-year gift to them -- It has taken up to 12 hours to get halfway burned and then I get the dreaded error message!!!! Plus, per a previous post on this message board, I keep losing text on some slides! grrrrrrr! Can anyone recommend another program with a little more user-friendly approach than Ulead??? :(

hey laura, nobody came to rescue you? I guess they didn't know what to rescue you from, except that it doesn't work and gives you an error message.

Let's start from the beginning, I need some detail as to what you try to do, how, from which source material, on what hardware (spec's please, like OS, CPU, RAM, disk size, free space on disks, time since last defrag, where do your temp files live on your system etc.).

It's your turn, don't take any notice of other users complaining about the same problem, it usually is only similar at best anyway. If everybody using this software successfully would post here their good experiences, you wouldn't know where to start reading. Once we get a meaningful dialog going on your problem, I'm sure there will be others, more knowledgeable than me, come up with suggestions also.

darkhornetHonda, that's a good idea! :D :D Reducing the resolution or quality of the pictures you use will actually make it easier for PictureShow to rerender the image files into a video clip. This is because a DVD only has a resolution of 720x480 for NTSC or 720x576 for PAL. Imagine if you're going to use pictures taken with a 6.3 megapixel camera at best quality. That may cause the software to render your project longer! You might eventually end up loosing system resources leading to software instability and render failure

Aside from smart saver pro, you can actually use Ulead Photo Explorer to resample or adjust the quality of your picture file. You won't have to buy it because it usually comes bundled if you buy the full version of PictureShow.

With Photo Explorer, use the "Convert Image" feature. Highlight all the pictures you want to resample then click on "Ctrl+K" which is its shortcut key. Put a check to the option "Resample image size to". Under "pixels (maximum dimensions)" put "800" as the value so it will conver it to "800x600". At the "Destination" section, choose "Overwrite original files" so you won't have to redo your project. But make sure you back up the files first in case you need the high resolution images for other stuff.

This should do the trick. Also, keep in mind that there now exists copy protection for images as well. It means these images can't be coppied or edited with imaging softwares. If you happen to have added such a picture file, then it will naturally stop PictureShow from rendering your project.

Still No Luck

Thanks for this tip, I resized all my images and tried again to burn a dvd, the entire process didn't take much time at all but it failed during burning at 56%
I'm wondering if my dvd burner is the problem?

how does this create copy protection?

thanks

Resolution to this problem?

Post by neilc »

Did this issue ever get resolved? My project also fails about half way through the rendering process with the following error message:

Ulead CD & DVD PictureShow
Failure Error when recording to disc.(0) Error Info:3181b22a-9728-4087-ae5b-601c19ead4c
Function ID:0
Line Number:0

It is not related to the burning of the DVD. It occurs during image creation.

Would appreciate any tips that haven't been tried already in this thread.

Thanks
