Play button doesn't work

I've been working with MovieFactory 6 for a few weeks but have been wondering if there is design flaw in playback behavior regarding using the 'Play' button on the DVD player. I sent out a DVD to my family and they were frustrated because when they push the play button on the remote, nothing happens. They then put in a commercial DVD and the play button starts the DVD as expected. So they assume the disc I sent them is defective and put it on the shelf.

I don't see any provision in MF6 to mimic what I consider is the most basic and necessary playback functionality in even the most rudimentary product. Am I missing something? Is there a way to make this work? If not, what other authoring product supports this? Nero? Roxio?
