VideoStudio 7 will only accept Format as AVI

Post by jannerhank »

Hi,
I played around with this programme (Video Studio 7 SE Basic) for a while but now I have installed it on Vista 64. It works but I can not set the format I want, if i set it to MPEG, WMV or DVD it changes back to AVI.

The input is from a VCR. The first time I tried this programme it did copy a VCR but it was 25GB in size!

I would like to transfer it to a DVD (around 4GB). I an using the Digitus Pocket USB 2.0 Video Grabber (DA-VC211A).

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum.
The fact that you actually got VS7SE basic to even run on a Vista machine (let alone 64bit) is, in itself miraculous!
Getting it to then DO something would really be pushing the envelope!

Because it is an SE version it is not only very out of date but also stripped down of features because it would have been included for free as part of a bundle deal. Usually with some kind of hardware device.
Furthermore, it is a BASIC version of SE so that means the MPEG2 encoder necessary is most likely missing.
It is probably only capable of capturing to DV avi format and that comes in at around 13gig per hour.

Yep I got VideoStudio 7 SE Basic about a year ago it came bundled with the Digitus Pocket USB 2.0 Video Grabber.

My system is a bit faster than it was a year ago and hence why I installel it again, I went from XP with AMD 64 X2 4800+ and 4 GB of DDR RAM to Vista 64, Intel Quad Core Q6600 overclocked to 3GHZ, 8GB of OCZ Reaper Ram (1066 MHz) and it took just under a hour to copy 25.3GB.

I logged onto the www.ulead.co.uk web site (which it had written on the CD and got offers of Airline Tickets, Dating, Employment, Games and Mp3 Player. So I think the address is out of date as well.
Will have to look elsewhere.

Many thanks for your help and advice.

VS is now on 11 in most place, 12 in some.
Ulead have been taken over by two people since then.
VS7 won't do what you want it to, so look at upgrading to VS11.

I would do that happly if i could get it at the American price!

In the United States VideoStudio 11.5 the price is $69.99 (equals at present exchange rate = £35.70).

In United Kingdom the price is £69.99 (which at the present exchange rate = $139.99).

If that is what 'this special relationship' Bush and Brown talk about I think that U.K. should pull all its troops out of of Iraq and Afghanistan and leave them to it. In this 'special relationship' the US is doing all the screwing!

I just had a email from them (so they do read what we write!). They offered it to me for at a reduced rate as I am already a customer (PSP Photo X2 last January). The offer was UK pound 29.00 inc VAT + Shipping UK pound 9.00 VAT + UK pound;1.58 Shipping VAT and it ends up at &pounds 39.58. Sorry the UK Pound sign will not print.

Please note the price in given in UK money not American money. One would hope that they know that most of the world use PAL or Secam (with only the US and Japan use NTSC).

This is better than the normal UK price so I paid for it and it should be here in 3-5 days. I will keep you posted on the out come.
