I am currently trying to use MovieFactory 6.
Anytime I try to create a slideshow, or any project, I get through the entire process - adding pics, creating a menu, previewing. I get to the burn stage and click "burn" and about 5-10 seconds after it starts burning I get an error that says "unspecified error". It does not give an error code or number.
I have uninstalled Nero and all other "click and drag" burning software on the computer. Uninstalled and Reinstalled DVD MovieFactory (many times). I have installed Patch 1 and Patch 2. I have tried to use different pictures, music, not creating menu, not using in type or effect. I have tried different DVDs, different DVD burners (internal and external) and they have not worked, but work when using a different program so it is not the burner or DVDs.
I have also tried to burn the project to a folder on the hard drive rather than to a DVD and also tried to make a burn image of the file so I could use a different program. I get "Unspecified Error" after a few seconds of trying both those options also.
If anybody has any ideas of something that I may have overlooked or how I can fix this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.
Unspecified Error when burning

Hi, I have a very similar problem to yours, just wondering did you solve it? It is annoying me to no end having new software & not being able to use it! Cheers Ivy May :-)

Strange, I also get that "Unspecified error" message once in a very rare while in DMF6, but I've only ever seen it when a project completes (I never burn directly to disc but always create an ISO image file onto my drive to avoid wasting a disc in the event that an error does happen). It's very rare, though, that I ever get that message, and even so my resulting disc I burn never has a problem....but still that message does appear on a rare instance.
Rochelle, from what I read here on the site, you don't need to do the Patch 1 update also because Patch 2 supposedly has all the fixes contained in Patch 1.

Don't know if it solves the problem here but I solved a "unspecified error"-problem which was caused by a FAT32-formatted external drive. It's been a while ... I think I stored the source-files on it from which I wanted to create a DVD.
Interestingly it actually should have worked, because no file bigger than 4GB was created ...
