Bottom line of video is distorted on 3 different TV's ?

Post by shellken »

Just finished a remix of our 20 year old wedding video. Turned out great except for the very bottom line which is distorted. I know this is supposed to be covered up when viewing on a regular TV. I tried 3 TV's and it shows on all. Any adjustment I can make to the video? Thanks.

Captured off VCR ?

Did you re-capture it off VCR, or was it already digitised ?

I've had a couple of VCRs fold over the bottom few lines. I've got round it using the CROP video filter.

On an older TV that line should not appear. However, if you are looking at it on a new LCD or plasma you may very well see it. I would agree that using the crop filter would probably be the best way to hide it.

I captured the video from our original VHS tape using a Canopus external firewire box. I used Windows DVD maker to capture then imported over into VS. I think the crop filter is exactly what the doctor ordered, I will give it a try. Thanks.

crop filter

I'm only on VS9, and it's not possible to apply a filter to all clips at once - a real failing as far as I'm concerned in VS. The way I do it is to render the video, then apply the crop filter to the MPEG file, then re-render.

Hopefully this omission has been fixed in later versions.

You can apply a filter to all clips at once with a little work around. Save your original project as a VSP. Then open a new project and insert your original VSP, which acts like one entire video clip. You can then add a filter to the entire thing.

Thanks Jeff - I've done quite a lot of work where I've applied filters to the entire project and that will certainly speed things up in future.
