Sorry to have wasted your time, but you did say, I just though I would check to see if anyone has come up with anything
new to improve their video quality at Youtube?
I have the same question as the OP. The best thing I have found so far is Getting the Best From Youtube from the Audio Video Producer web site.
A google search for "Ben Wagonner youtube format" did not give me anything useful on the first page. Any good links?
Boy, was I disappointed with the stock settings for the VS11.5 youtube publishing tool. If you want to talk about useless, this tool takes the cake. Absolutely unwatchable, undecipherable output.
Ah. I have learned in another thread that installing Media Encoder 9 from the Microsoft web site fixes the problem with the Youtube publishing tool. Tried it - and it worked. Still, I wish I could just save in flv format, but you take what you can get.
This may be common knowledge but I like to find things out for myself, the learning curve is better, for the past few days I have been a ghost wandering the corridors this forum looking for information but don't think I found this tip posted anywhere.....I wasn't looking for it though!
In the address bar at the top of the page add &fmt=18 Better still type &fmt=6 Then hit enter just make sure you haven't highlighted the text when you do it.
Try both URLs to see the difference, if you send the Link via email with the &fmt=6 added when the recipient clicks the URL he will watch the better quality.
Also there is just below the "Viewing counter" there is "Watch in High Quality" which is the same as adding &fmt=18
Wow what a difference and so simple too!!
Thank you for sharing this and I shall move this thread tothe Members Samples Forum where it will not get lost!

Ben doesn't do anything particularly for Utube, but is an encoding wizard, so reading his work, mostly books, will help you to understand why things happen when you make certain choices.
