I bought VideoStudio 11.5 Plus and it will not run on my Vista Home Premium SP1 computer.
It gave ¡§the application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect¡¨ error, when I attempted to start it. Also during installation I received ¡§the installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable SP1 package appears to have failed¡¨ error.
VideaStudio relies on the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86). It was a part of the previous Windows operating system. VideoStudio forces Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) upon your system during its installation process. VideoStudio will not run without those ¡§old¡¨ Windows components.
I called Microsoft to ask why Vista prevents installation of C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86). I was told that the current Windows operating system - Vista - prevents Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from installing, because it protects ¡§integrity of the current operating system¡¨. When I mentioned that the product in question had ¡§Certified for Vista¡¨ logo on the box, the Micsrosft rep wanted me to tell him what product I had. I chose not to tell him, because I did like VS 9 version that I used in the past on my old computer, and as a loyal Ulead customer in the past I did not want to create another issue for Ulead.
I called Ulead/Corel. According to Corel/Ulead Technical Support Representative Adam, VideoStudio will not run without Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86). Upon his advice I tried to download and install Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) directly from Microsoft website. Vista again did not allow adding (installing) Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) to my computer. At that time Adam blamed it on Microsoft and informed me that his role ended. No options to talk to a supervisor and no option to complete Customer ¡§Satisfaction?¡¨ Survey , that was advertised while I was holding on the line with Corel/Ulead.
So it appears that if you have Vista as your original operation system you can¡¦t use Ulead VideoStudio 11.5 Plus.
If I had upgraded from XP to Vista I would have had those legacy old components and I would have been able to install VS11.0-->VS11.5-->VS11.5 Plus. Since my computer has Vista from the very beginning (not upgraded from XP) I can¡¦t use Ulead VideoStudio 11.5 Plus.
By the way, buying/downloading 11.5 Plus directly from Ulead still forces you through VS11.0-->VS11.5-->VS11.5 Plus journey. I was not charged for talking to Corel/Ulead tech support.
I am disappointed will Ulead. Amazon will not take it back for a refund, because I opened the box. They can only ship another box of the same product. I am stuck with non-working Ulead product and will have to look for video editing software that will work with Vista.
Any recommendations?

I don't have v11.5 or Vista, but I'm sure this thread will get a lot of replies saying they have said version installed on said OS.

Hi Uhill
I bought VS11+ an upgraded to VS11.5+ while I still had my old XP based system. At first I had trouble installing the MSVC++ but persistance payed off.
When I upgraded to Vista Home Premium 64 bit on a new system I don't recall having any problems installing in Vista. All necessary legacy files installed well.
I did right click on the setup.exe file on the disc and select "run as Administrator" and VS installed smoothly. I did a quick test, everything seemed fine then installed the patches in the correct order. Maybe that was the trick?
I have no problems running VS11.5+ on a Vista 64 bit system.
Then Vista SP1 came along. I installed it and everything was still working.
I guess I was lucky

Ditto with my new Quad which came with Vista Ultimate 32 bit as its first and only OS. I installed VS11+ with no problem. I even seem to recall seeing the reference to it installing Visual C++ and thinking that it seemed a little strange that it was installing something from 2005 i.e. pre-Vista. But it installed and works fine. Followed the upgrade path to VS11.5+ and it continues to work fine. And I didn't install as Administrator!
Just a normal, straight install...

I successfully got 11.5 to work on vista 32 bit, however the program does not work on vista 64 bit for me. Just got a new computer and loaded 11.5 and everytime I start I get a message that tells me I have to run as administrator. I even tried to install by right clicking and installing as administrator. I try to create bluray disk and the program crashes.
Ok, did a search and tried this trick from this post:

Basically, right click on desktop icon, the select advanced and select run as an administartor.
