image issues

Post by celler »

Just got a new Windows Vista Home Premium computer and installed Video Studio 11 and the 11.5 free upgrade. Noticed a couple of things missing from my XP version:

** will not read images I want to add to my video
** when I try to add image the preview button is grayed out
** has half of the effects as the version on my XP system did

Is it wierd that I can see my flash stuff but not an image?

I have gone to to the patch page and gotten the power pack upgrade from 11/8/2007 and the update pack from 11/6/2007 but did not use the Hot Fix released in 12/07 because I didn't get an "installataion failed" message.

Did some things just not install?

Thanks for your help.

If you could be a little more specific about what doesn't work would be more helpful. Some things included in VS won't work because Vista just won't allow it, yet they are included for those who are still running XP.

In addition, can you confirm which version of VS11 you initially installed -- the boxed or the download or upgrade version? If it was downloaded, did you download and install at least the first two of the three links you should have received. The first is the program package, and you obviously have that. But the second is Extra Content which contains quite a few things essential for the full working of VS.

And you were correct in not installing the Hot Fix.

What doesn't work is that when I try to open an image in the image area it just gives me a black square. It is labled as the image I want but no image is actually visible.

I downloaded VS11 and then I downloaded the VS11.5 upgrade. I didn't have any other versions as this is a new computer. I still have the other downloads from my old computer:

** "UVS11Plus_ESD_E_Bonus"
** "UVS11Plus_ESD_E_Content"

Do I need to install those?

Thanks.

You certainly need the E(xtra)_Content. See my comment above.
