Trouble importing DVDs and DVD folders

Post by dc denizen »

I am trying to import a DVD and/or DVD folder, but neither will work. The DVD was made in a professional television studio on a high-quality deck. When I try to import the DVD into the library, VS freezes at 61% into the "parsing" phase every time. The entire program locks up.

So, I tried another way around. I used 2 different programs - DVDGhost, and Nero - to try to recode the DVD and save it on my hard drive (which someone on this board recommended). Then I tried importing the DVD folder into VS from my hard drive, but I got an error message:

Import DVD error:
Failed to Read DVD info:
Report ID: 0x80040901(2305)

Can anyone help? (Please bear in mind that I am a beginner at this). Thanks.

Slightly different to DVD Ghost / Norton.
Create an empty folder on your hard drive, now copy the complete DVD to it using drag and drop from Windows Explorer.

If the disc is in any way faulty it should fail to complete the process.
If it completes the process OK then try importing again.
I think you are importing correctly but just to make sure please view this link

Try this (which works for me every time with DVDs created on a standalone DVD recorder).

Get hold of a small, free program called FixVTS (www.videohelp.com/tools/FixVTS).

Open up the DVD in Windows Explorer and copy the folders to your hard drive.

Run FixVTS and drag/drop one of the VOB files from your hard drive onto it. Click 'Full DVD'.

Now try importing it into Video Studio (remember you'll need to import the copy on your hard drive!).

Hope this helps!
