looking for solution to prevent ~8sec Capturing duration

Post by amir »

Hi

I'm looking for solution ,
while capturing from Analog to Digital > Ilink
from SONY-DCR-TRV120E PAL camcoder
I convert Analog 8mm casets with this analog to digital camcoder.
Sudenlly the MF-5 & VS-11+ start Captured short duration around ~8 seconds! & stoped it automatically.

Thx

Try using a different cassette to see if it is a problem with that particular tape.

Thx
I already tried this.

Another info:
Same casete/tape while filming a new DV film and tried to capture this piece , it's OK , the capturing doesn't stoped.

but when I'm going to the old analog parts of this tape the capturing return to this ~8 sec duration samples.

In the first time I tried the VS-11+ it works find, and I even did a few capturing of more then 1/2 an hour movies (the old ones of course).

Something sudenly happend to the captur duration...

regards

Are you placing the analog tape in the camcorder? If so VS11+ has a bug due to the capture plug-in used. Prior to Corel releasing a patch, most analog capture was not allowed. The capture process would suddenly stop. Most were fixed with the patch, however one still exists, where trying to use an analog tape in a digital camcorder. I happen to use the US version of that same camcorder, Sony's DCR-TRV 120 (NSTC). If I place one of my analog tapes in the machine, VS will stop abruptly when trying to transfer/capture from that tape.

Try using the free capture utility called WinDV. It works with Firewire only, and captures DV. Several of us use it over VS or MSP capture. Once you're video is transferred/captured, you can insert them into VS and edit away..

WinDV work find,, will I get better quality by using A/D..?

Post by amir »

Hi Ron P

I'm using now the WinDV for capturing and it's work instaed of my Ulead MF/VS.
thanks, it gives same capturing quallity level & even more..

Do I get better CAPTURING quallity if I'll use my Sony Analog output and add the ADVC-110/55 (for example) instead of the camcorder A/D self converting which I'm using now?

I want to get the same quallity that I get directlly from the camera!!

I'll be glad to here from you about capturing quallity.

thx a lottttttttt

I'm sorry to say I have no experience or knowledge with the ADVC converters. Either way a third-party device is doing the conversion, so no stress placed on your PC.

Does the ADVC connect to your PC with firewire? I personally think that for capturing firewire is the best means to transfer video..

Finally I might add that the original source is analog Hi-8 or 8mm, so that is the best quality you can expect. You can't expect video shot on a Hi-8 or 8mm camcorder to have the quality of HD. When you convert from analog to digital, nothing more occurs other than digitizing.
