Why do I get "media format not supported" when I try import a MP-4 file to be placed on the time line ?

I think you posted this in the wrong forum. This is the VideoStudio forum. But I could render a guess and say that because MSP is a bit old (2 years ?) and has not been updated recently that maybe it just does not support that format (?).

MSP8 can indeed support mp4. Check your file extension.
