I am currently using Videostudio 11 plus. I have previously used it very well but have hit a problem with the current dvd I am trying to create.

I have read some of the previous posts on this forum regarding this error code but alot of it went off at a tangent and I was unable to make head nor tails of it.

I can burn a project to dvd ok so long as I don't want a menu. I have tried burning it using the 3 .VSP projects I have created and also tried to burn it direct from pre rendered Mpeg files. Like I said before, it burns ok only so long as I don't want a menu. As soon as I click the little tick box saying 'create menu' it seems to stop part way through.

On clicking 'burn' it starts to build the menu transitions but as soon as it gets to the last one it stops and comes up with "Unspecified Error" code 5:0:0. All I can then do is click 'OK'.

Lately the general "fix all" regarding menus has been to go to the Miscrosoft DirectX site and update your DirectX installation ot the latest version.
Don't be fooled by the version number, look for the recent date.

I had a look at this forum this morning and saw one of your colleagues suggest that so I made sure that my direct x was up to date with the most recent on before I posted my question.

I tried again after this and still had no joy.

One little thing you might want to look at is in the menu creation stage in the burning module. When you open the burning module (Share > Create Disc), you first insert your video in the burning "timeline". If you want to add Chapters, then click the Add/Edit Chapters button. Then you click next, and the page where you choose a Menu template appears. Once you have selected a template, you click on the Edit tab on the same page to select background music, change the background photo etc.

Down in the bottom left corner of the Edit page, though, is an innovation in VS11, and I have found that it slows down my burning stage enormously, and has even brought it to a complete halt -- though I can't can't recall the error message I received at the time. Now I never use it.

There are two icons, one above the other, labelled Menu In and Menu Out. Using them is supposed to animate the transition from the menu to a selected video clip. You will see that the Menu In icon is disabled by default (circle with diagonal line through it). But the Menu Out button is enabled. And this was the culprit. Click on the icon and it brings up a choice of animations. Choose the disabling one identical to the default for Menu In. Then proceed to burn. I think you might notice a considerable improvement.

Thanks for your help on this. Finally sorted it. Had to reinstall the software and it worked fine after that.

Must've bot a bug in it or something.
