Anyone with HDV Capture Problems after Service Pack 3 ?
Recently I upgraded my computer with a Gforce 6600 GT 128 grafic card.
Always captured HDV from my FX1E with no problem with Ulead SP2 installed. Few days ago, I upgrade to SP3 and VideoCapture doesn't work. Impossible to capture or back to tape from MediaStudio.
VideoCapture recognizes the cam, the HDV plugin is selected, but can't capture at all. I get a message that says ""Failed to build a preview graph". And that's all. What can I do??
Thank you folks.

Exactly the Same Problem
Video Editor Reports it cannot load correct DV Driver
Video Capture fails to make graph or reports unable to initiate
Unloaded all my ULEAD Products
Deleated evey entry for ULEAD using "SEARCH"
Loaded all the software again and lost all my presets for everything
reloaded up to SP 2 and HD Plug in and I am now back in business
Not good enough
Best of Luck
Regards Baz
PS Im going to post this with ULEAD

Try re-registering ulIEEEPushSource.ax and ulspmpeg.ax files in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG directory for repairing version conflict problem.
You can use the Comman Prompt and cd'd to that diretory and then regsvr32 <.ax>. for example:
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG\ulIEEEPushSource.ax"

'Please click the <Recapture> button to re-capture any files with errors.
Capture to file: c:\documents and settings\gareth davies\my documents\video capture\vide0003.mpg
Settings: In: 00:04:30:08, Out: 00:04:30:09, normal speed.

ULEAD REPLY
Refer to HD PLUG IN entry on this FORUM
We are not the only ones in this problem after spending what I consider a large sum of money for the Plug in.
I posted this with Ulead only to get a referel to the manual!!! which was not even on the site link on their eMail
At least the link was available on this forum but not from ULEAD
What use is this if the Program refuses to set a "CAPTURE GRAPH" or Load the correct "DV DRIVER"
Don't despair other programs are in similar problems from what I hear from acquaintences with DHV it will now be a matter of assessing others complaints and comments to find a suitable workhorse

HDV Plugin
Hello Barry,
Followed your instruction but still get message’ failed to create capture graph'
Also tried on other PC with AIT X600 card and still the same problem.
I cannot find the link you mention on manual.
What hardware are you running?
I bought 6.5 MSP some years ago and thought a upgrade to 7 would be a cheaper route than upgrading my Mac software to capture HDV footage ready for editing, but how wrong was I, over 2 weeks know and still unable to capture.

Gareth
I am at a loss as I have been able to now use both my Laptop an ACER1605
Pentium P4 3.06Ghz with an ATI 9000 Mobility graphics card using USB2 disks to work using this method and my main computer
MSP reports after all this it is only at Version 7.02.00006 which is a little unusual as SP 2 was 7.02.00005 SP3 should be 7.03.00006
For your info my set up is as follows
Gigabyte GA 7N400 Pro2 Version 1
CPU Athlon XP3000+
Memory 1GB PC3200
Graphics nVidea 6800GT Albatron 256Mb
Operating System Windows XP SP2
Disk Drives all Western Digital
C: 40GB 7500rpm
D: 60GB 7500rpm
E: 2x120Gb 7500 rpm Using On Board Gigaraid
F: 2x80Gb 7500 rpm using On Board Gigaraid
Several 120Gb USB2 drives for storage etc
HDV can be Captured and edited on these, amazing
On board IEEE
Perhaps try registering all 9 ax files in the directory or even try again leaving out SP1 and 2, loading only SP3 after reloading MSP, the moment these had been loaded my system would not work
Did you delete the Common directory as this seems to be the place of the major problem
It doesnt seem to effect DVD workshop or movie factory after MSP has been reloaded
Best of luck
Hope this helps

Hi Barry,
Thank you for reply,
Followed everything you suggested and also from Ulead I even created my own bat file to re-register AX files from command prompt all successful but still error message 'failed to build capture graph'.
Latest setup as instructed by Ulead is MSP7 with SP3 and HDV 2 plug-in but still when trying to capture I get the failed capture message, it sometimes attempts to play but very slowly missing frames but when I select capture I get the capture error message again.
I have a firewire PCI 400 card, Pentium 4 3mhz hyper threading with Gigabyte motherboard, Windows XP Professional so two processors are registered, just IDE hard disk, Matrox G550 dual TFT.
The Sony HDR FX1E camera is set to HDV with conversion to DV set off.
MSP7 recognises the HDV connection but fails to create capture graph.
I have no problem capturing in DV mode only when the camera is set to convert down to DV.
Do you think it’s a graphic card problem; I have the latest Matrox drivers but also on my AIT system still the same message.
Ulead support is very poor; my last half dozen messages have not been answered. The email contact I had at Ulead was a Nelson Duey stating there is nothing wrong with the software and should work which it seems to do for some.

I am unsure it is the Matrox card EXCEPT in the details of Service pack 3 one of the fixes was to CURE this problem specifically on the G550. I believe ULEAD are a little sloppy in their programming BUT even so other Editing programs seem to be no better .
I am involved in the SA Amateur Movie Makers and the other major programs are going through similar hickups and not even associated with HDV. I still think MSP is the most powerful and user friendly of the lot, you just have to grin and bear the hickups
I started off using a G650 but diced it for the nVidea as it seemed to be causing lack of memory problems, I still have them but to a lesser degree
WHAT VERSION DOES MSP Report??
I will post the rest just in case you missed it on "HDV Plug in"
A clean reload with only SP3 loaded and then Load the HDV Plug in
PROBLEM is TWO Fold
1) If you have downloaded and added either Service Pack 1 or 2 and then add 3 it kills the HDV Plug in
I am now back where I should have been
2) The other is one of the files in SP3 does not get registered
Remedy is as follows
First Copy the folling file to a safe place
prjtmpMPEG.dat, savetemp.dat and prjtmpAVI.dat from
C:\Documents and Settings\(YOUR USER NAME)\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead Media Studio Pro\7.0 Folder
Uninstall Media Studio Pro from "Control Panel<>Add or Remove Programs"
Delete the Following FOLDERS
C:\Documents and Settings\(YOUR USER NAME)\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead Media Studio Pro\7.0
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead Media Studio Pro 7.0
Restart your computer
Follow this order implicitly
Load MSP
Load MSP Service Pack 3
Load the HDV Plugin
Go to the start menu <Programs><Accessories<>Command Prompt
You will be in the "C:\Documents and Settings\(YOUR USER NAME)
type cd\ to return to the route directory
type cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG
type regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG\ulDVDAudio.ax"
A message will appear that the registration was successful if it tells you it failed the typing was incorrect and try again
type EXIT
The files
prjtmpAVI.dat, prjtmpMPEG.dat and savetemp.dat you saved to a safe place copy them back to
C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\(YOUR USER NAME)\Ulead Systems\Media Studio Pro\7.0 directory
They are all your presets for the projects and saving you files and once lost I have no idea how to revover them
Restart your computer and you should be in business
I added this just in case you missed it
If this does not fix the problem perhaps the G550 is a suspect???
Regards Barry
It gets really frustrating but hang in there, I can assure you the grass is not greener out there

Still not able to capture using Ulead HD plug-in for Sony HDV FX1e since i upgrade 21/4/05. Error message 'failed to build capture graph'
Tried everything Barry suggested and latest install procedure from Ulead but all produce the same error message, capture perfectly when converting down to DV but no using the HD plug-in, please see details below.
Dear Gareth,
Sorry, there might be conflict between your capture driver and the MSP 7 Service Pack 3 patch in your system. Please remove the PSP 7 SP3 patch by uninstalling and reinstalling the MediaStudio Pro 7 in your system's Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, then please install the MSP 7 SP2 patch and the MSP HD Plugin patch again.
Please be informed we have also forwarded this matters to the R&D department for proper assessment and implementation. We will keep you posted for any developments regarding this issue or you may visit our website regularly for any updates.
Best regards,

Previous advice.
Dear gareth,
Maybe some of the files in your MediaStudio Pro's installed software are not functioning, or one of the file is missing or has been corrupted and need to be replaced. Then please logon as Administrator and try the following suggestions to fix:
1)Purge the temp files in 'C:\Document and settings\[username]\Local setings\Temp' directory
2)Uninstall MSP 7 from control panel Add/Remove programs
3)Please del the folder "Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7" folder in C:\program files\ulead system
4)Install MSP 7 again (and please don't install the MSP 7.01 patch or MSP SP2 patch if you have)
5)Run the MSP 7 SP2 patch that you can download from our website;
http://www.ulead.com/tech/msp/msp_ftp.htm
6)Make sure you have the latest WinXP compliant driver for your VGA card, sound controller and capture device which you can download from the internet.
Please avoid the unnecessary conflict, temporarily turn off all applications includes anti virus, norton utilities, or the other memory resident program and the Internet connection etc. before you run MediaStudio Pro.

Dear Nelson Duay
Before I had a stable system with Media Studio Pro7 SP1, then I decided to install SP3, but I think it should never have been done.
After installing I started Video Editor, while initaliling audiofilters (the bar said 85%) the process stopped with: "Video Editor kann nicht ausgeführt werden(oder so ähnlich)........... ein Fehlerprotokoll wird erstellt"
So I deinstalled all and installed as you suggested (Point 1 until 6 very procisely) but the same problem occurs.
Where can I find the failure protocoll?
Any suggestions?
