Photo Impact X3 UpGrade Verson w/o ver 10 installed
I am currently using Verson 10, with Photo Explorer ver 8.5 on an XP system.. I have purchased a new HP Media Computer running Windows Vista Home Premium. I was going to install my PI ver 10 when I saw that Vista was not listed on system requirments. After further looking on various boards it seems that PI ver 10 is not compatible with vista and it causes all kinds of problems and freezeups. SO, I want to get the new Photo Impact X3. My problem: I do not want to install ver 10. Can I buy the upgrade ver of X3 and install it without having ver 10 on my computer. To instasll ver 10, I first had to remove ver 8.5. In reading the requirements for X3, it says that ver 10 should be on the computer, but then in another location it says that when loading X3, you just have to type in the serial number of the ver 10 that you are using. I dont want to install ver 10. Can I install the X3 upgrade or do I have to buy the regular edition for $20.00 more. Thanks in advance for any info. Don

Welcome to the forums,
You should not have to install version 10. Most of the recent versions just ask for the serial number of the earlier version.
If your version 10 is a boxed version, you can just place the install CD in the tray when PIX3 is being installed.

You can install version 10 with Vista even though Corel say it's not compatible. You WILL have problems with it though and there's a work-around for this. Right click on the PI icon on your desktop and choose Properties. When the window box opens, click on the Compatibility tab, tick the box and on the drop down box choose XP. This will enable your v. 10 to run in compatibility mode on Vista. It's not a guarantee the program will work perfectly.
Version 12 has a patch to enable it to work effectively with Vista.
Version X3 is compatible with Vista, however you do not receive PhotoExplorer or Gif Animator.
I run versions 10, 11, 12 and X3 on my machine.... however I do not have vista I'm an XP fan!
