Alludo USER to USER Web Board

I purchased my Ulead Video Studio 11 Plus because the Corel specs led me to believe that it would work seamlessly with my new Sony HD Handycam HDR-SR1. Guess what no compatibility no capture ability. I called Corel and was assured that a patch was eminent. Here I sit 6 months later with a $1,500 camera that Ulead Video Studio 11 Plus will not work with. That really SUCKS!

Enough bitching, where's the damn patch?

Sorry, but in fact the update patches to enable AVCHD editing which covers your camera *were* issued 7 months ago. There was an update patch issued on 6 November 2007, and two days later a 'Power Pack' which was free to registered users and updated VS11+ (only the Plus version) to VS11.5+. Both are available on the Ulead.com site if you click on the Download button and follow the prompts. If you click on the ? up in the top right hand corner of VS then select 'About Ulead VS', after you apply the patches in the above order, your version should read 11.5.0157.2 And it does work with AVCHD... (although Panasonic S9 users continue to have some problems).

Do NOT use the 'Hot Fix' which is also on the Download site as it is ONLY meant to correct an installation problem which you obviously did not have.

Im interested in this camera. What software comes with this video camera? Video studio is top stuff so what does a top of the line camera come with as a supported editing software for that camera. Obviously it comes with something that one has to seek another such as videostudio. Im under the impression that it comes with vegas which I dont like at all.

Its a shame that this camera doesnt have a software such as videostudio plus as standard when you buy it. I hope JVC has videostudio because I want a camera that comes with videostudio as standard.

When I purchased mine it came with Sony Picture Motion Browser which enables you to transfer via USB your video from the camera's HDD to your computers HDD.
It also enables you to play the AVCHD video and do some rudimentary editing.
Should you wish to it enables you to convert your AVCHD video to standard mpeg-2, useful if your PC is not up to the specification required to edit AVCHD.
VS does have a function that creates proxy files to facilitate editing but rendering and playback still need a powerful computer core 2 duo at least.

Whilst it would be nice if it came with video studio the freebie versions of software given away with cameras tends to be a SE version which is not full spec and therefore lacking in features.
They tend to be carrots to draw you in to buying the full version.
