No Fade IN/OUT with new MF4 slideshow unlike MF3

Post by ruggy1 »

Where has the useful fade in and out transition gone that used to be in MF3 slideshow but seems to have been overlooked in MF4 in favour of 3d moving slides that make you queezy! Anyone know?
Thanks

I also miss the "Fade to Black" transition. It has always been the most basic. They do have a fade transition in the FX section, however. It fades one slide into the next, but there is no black transition. I think they should definitely include that transition in any update they do. How do we notify them of this oversight?

Ruggy,

Click on "Transition Effect
Select " 3:F/X "
Fade transistion "Fade In/Out" is the 2nd down on the left on my machine.
Fade transistion "Dissolve" is the top right on my machine.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, Maddrummer,

I know there are a few fade transitions; but they are not the fade to black that was in version 3. They do a nice fade into the next picture, but sometimes it is nice to fade out altogether. That is the missing transition.
But your advice will help those who hadn't found even those transition. (I think they should have continued to name the transitions as they did in earlier versions and not just go with the little boxes. It makes it much more difficult to pick out what you want.)

Hi,
OK, I'm confused.
We are talking about "Slideshows" correct?

First post of this thread:

>moving slides that make you queezy! Anyone know?

MF4 uses the same effect for fade in/out.

Where is "Fade to Black" in MF3 for "Slideshows"?
I can't find it on my installation and I have the full DC version of MF3.

I don't think there's a fade to black for "SlideShows"
There is a "Fade to Black" for videos under enhance video

Perhaps you are right; the transition to black was in the video section rather than the slideshow; however, I don't have version 3 installed now, so I can't check myself. I thought I had made a slideshow with the slides fading to black, but I must be mistaken. Regardless, it would be nice if they added it to the slideshow options.

MF3 Versus MF4

Post by Kathy Snyder »

I have just downloaded the trial Version of MF4 and personally, I dont see anything that would convince me to upgrade. The transistions in MF3 were much more user friendly. The only thing new I see that are of interest are perhaps the props (which can be used in whimisical shows) and the easy inset of an additional photo on the slides (something I had to go to Powerpoint to do previously). I was hoping that there would be animation effects in MF4, not so. Am I missing something here that makes it worth the extra cost?

I haven't tried out everything yet, but I sort of agree with you at this point. I also think the old transition choice was easier. However, I do find this version crashes less often than version 3. I had amost given up on it due to the frequent crashes, but one shouldn't have to pay for a whole new upgrade just to have a stable program. Another change, for me, was that version 4 seems to get the field order correct; I had to trick the program (or edit in Video Studio) to get some avi files to convert correctly in version 3.

Hi,

I already have MF4, and I like it.

There could be some things that folks don't want/need, 16:9 support, dual layer support, but these are things that will be common soon.

I like that I can customize menus and save them in my favorites for any number of repetitive work projects. Very cool.

The ability to customise menus makes it worth the upgrade for me.

We never use the Menu option when creating our videos and so that is not something that would make me upgrade.
