doing some more testing with VS9.
Have to say i am extremely impressed!
However i added a cool 3d file from pro studio last night. a 20 second sequence. it took nearly 3 hours to render into MPG2.
However the quality was much improved over vs7 and 8 and over pro studio itself. teh other good thing was that it rendered in lower field no problem!
I did some checking in por studio and discovered that optimal quality will give you 3 hours rendering and best quality will give you about 1/2 hour rendering.
If you are wondering how to get a cool 3d file into vs8 or 9 in the timeline right click and insert video and locate your .c3d file and it will load extremley slowly! vs7 had a seperate folder.
Back to JPG's i can report that VS9 can process these without problems in quality if i select lower field. in vs8 i had terrible problems and frame based worked better than having field.
in the booklet however there is an interesting item re non sq pix rendering. only use this for DV.avi files. you dont need to use it for other files. it is to do with the way DV camcorders process the pictures ie they dont use pixels!
for PAL the ideal size should be 704 x576 not 720 x576.
All in all i am impressed.
if you were sorry you ever got vs8 you wont be with vs9!
another thing with blue screen.
people reported bad quality. a little research on the net indicates that the mini DV format isnt teh best way todo this.
Also you need to have matrerial which has a reflective surface.
Hope this helps

That's relative the project and your machine, I had a four second project that took well over 8 hours. That's on a P4 3.0, Gforce5950 Ultra and some of the fastest ram on the consumer market.david reece wrote:
