Easy Palette - Null Gallery

Post by catballoo »

Hi,

Hope you can help. My PI v12 has been working fine up until now, and suddenly the Easy Palette is empty and displaying 'Easy palette - Null Gallery' as it's title bar.

I've restarted PI several times, and rebooted my PC, but it's still the same.

Do I have to reinstall?

Many thanks.

All the best,
Cat

Well I've found a workaround by just re-loading the galleries via the Gallery Manager... but it's slow going.

Problem solved for now, but if there's a faster way to solve it, I'd be interested to hear of it.

Hi Cat,

Sometimes this does happen, unfortunately. Your Easy Palette hasn't disappeared, if you click on the Menu Bar, Window, Customise, EasyPalette > under Category drop down box find My Gallery - In the window below Gallery/Library: make sure the boxes are ticked for your gallery/library items to show. When completed it is advised to SAVE the profile.

Have your PI workspace set up as you want it and SAVE your profile.

Null Gallery files

Yes Catballoo you are quite right in what you said. I had the same problem and those .smp gallery files were suddenly gone from my computer. One moment I was using them and they just disappeared. I had to load those .smp files from another computer to restore them in the gallery. I wonder if this may be a bug as it has happened to me before.

Using PI X3 (for many many months with no problem) and all of a sudden I have no Easy Palette. Went through the Windows/Customization process but when I select Library or Gallery the window below it is empty.

(I don't mind losing anything I have added and am willing to reinstall X3 if necessary but not sure it will work as the box the program came in says: Upgrade and will only install if it can detect PI 10, 11, or 12 version. Also don't want to lose the plugins I have added.)

Thanks. Stan.

You need to back up all your folders and files in order not to lose them, that means copying and pasting the Easy Palette to a safe location if you uninstall/reinstall. This also means your Plugins folder to be moved too.

Once reinstalled, go to My Documents, delete the My Easy Palette folder and replace with the one you previously saved, also move the plugins folder back.

If you are having problems reinstalling that's a more difficult issue to resolve. Why you are being asked for a previous version is, you must have had the previous versions on your PC then updated to PIX3. When installing PIX3 it will ask you for the serial number of the previous version, find it an add it in. Then you will add your PIX3 serial number and PIX3 should work okay.
