Album Transitions Not Working!

Post by stevef »

Upgraded to UVS11. None of the Album transition fx work. They worked fine in Ulead's VS9 & 10. Besides uninstalling and loosing all saved preferences and project management folders, which would cause me to give up on Corel, are there any patches or ways to reinstall just this feature?

Welcome to the forums,

Did you upgrade to VS11 or VS11+? Also have you installed the Update Pack and the Power Pack? They can be downloaded HERE.

Next have you updated your DirectX? The most recent update is dated May 2008. You can download it HERE

The "Boxed" (CD) version has a repair option just run the installation program again.

The download (ESD) version does not but you can cheat.
Rename the VideoStudio installation folder and also the folder in the
"Documents and settings" folder (You haven't completed your system specifications XP or Vista?)

e.g.
C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Ulead Systems\VideoStudio\11.0
becomes
C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Ulead Systems\VideoStudio\11.0X

and
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\VideoStudio\11.0
becomes
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\VideoStudio\11.0X

Now install VideoStudio again. You cna then alter the newly created directories to something else such as
C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Ulead Systems\VideoStudio\11.0Y
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\VideoStudio\11.0Y

Revert the original folders back to their original names and then copy any missing files from the new folders to the old.

Re: transitions and now more...

Post by stevef »

Thanks for the responses. I am running win xp. I have installed all additional elements and have the most current plug ins.

Unfortunately, my attempt to change the directory names and re-install a new version did not work. In fact, it still deleted all my settings and all my imported projects. And I changed every single reference to the software both in file names and directories on my system (even hidden files). What a disaster.

Since it did not work, I deleted the Newer install using the uninstall feature and this morning the transitions did start to work, albeit at a much smaller resolution and screen size. A few restarts later and they appear to be functioning normaly. Why? Got me.

BUT WAIT, whatever happened during this "renaming folders and installing a new version and then uninstalling" has caused a MUCH MORE SERIOUS issue... now I can no longer create video files of ANY kind. The feature just starts and stops. No files are created. Nothing is being rendered...

I tried to go back to V9 which always worked perfectly, but none of the newer projects are backwards compatible. So now I am stuck with three jobs that are due on Friday and a video editing system that does not output.

Any ideas on how to fix this one?

Have you tried doing a System Restore to before your reinstallation? You will lose your new-found Albums, but at least might be able to finish your projects...

I did a clean re-install of all Ulead software and updated the plugins and patches. That got me back. Though I lost all the working folders, which was what I was hoping to prevent.

In the future I will be using the "save project" setting all the time. Though it would be great if we could also save the Project Management hierarchy of nestled video/audio/titles/etc. settings that are used in a specific project.

Thank you both for your assistance.
