Is VideoStudio the right software for this hardware?

I am a computer novice and thought it too cumbersome and unintelligible to try to post on the Corel forum b/c I don¡¦t know what I¡¦m doing. So, I chose your name (probably unfortunate for you, and I¡¦m sorry) to solicit help.

I purchased (foolishly) the Canon Vixia HG10 High Definition HDD Camcorder w/ 10x Optical Zoom, 40 GB Hard Drive, HDMI, 3.1 MP Still Capture, AVCHD. Now I can¡¦t find software to go with it. Can you tell me if VideoStudio 11.5 is the route I should take and do I need anything else to output the video onto a blank DVD. If so, what kinds of DVDs do I purchase? I¡¦ve got a baseline Windows VISTA system, nothing high-tech. Please help!

Not only am I in full time employment but my Forum Administration tasks also take up an enormous amount of time. I am finding I have even less time to spend answering posts on certain days according to my shift pattern.

I don't have HD equipment but from reading various posts on the forums the Canon HG10 would appear to be one of the more popular camcorders being used with VideoStudio.

I too received an email from Sonya, and responded to her along the same lines regarding forum policy about private emails. However, I added that she only needed to peruse the VS forum over the last few days to find a heap of posts regarding AVCHD. Hopefully she has done so by now...
