Once they are on your PC, add them to the time line.

By "them" do you mean still photos or the short clips of video the camera can take? Unfortunately, each still digital camera uses totally different formats, even the same brand. So can you right click on one of the videos (if that is what you are talking about) within Video Studio, either in the timeline or in the library window, and copy ALL of its Properties here please. Then we will have some idea of what codec is involved...

Hi Ken,This is what I'm doing.-----Camera to computer via USB--a Canon
box appears to invite me to download images or video. I tick still images
and they download to Photogallery. How do I transfer them to VS11.?

Alternativley with UL11 page up I > Capture > import from mobile device
-------a frame appears with 12 thumbnail images -- only two options are
shown Settings or Cancel.-----I> settings--a 'path' C;|Users|Stan|desktop
|ULead VS11 appears----I > OK--the 12 thumbnail images return !!
I am lost. flossi

Hi

Your images should have been copied to a folder on your hard drive using the Canon program.

Somewhere on the ¡¥Canon box¡¦ that appears should be a link to probably---properties or settings, My Canon window shows tabs at the top, from memory I select the Properties then ¡¥Destination¡¦ option.---- the location of the saving folder should be listed here.

(Some cameras act as a removable drive, View My Computer folder then connect the camera. If a new drive is created you should be able to copy the files from there)

To import images to VS, go to the image library and select the folder icon ( Load Image)
Browse the hard drive for the folder holding your images.

You can create additional library pages using the Library Manager.
Once linked to the library simply drag the thumbnails to the timeline

Hope this helps

And an extra hint on where to find the downloaded still images -- I have two Canon digital cameras, and both download to dated folders in My Pictures (on XP machines) and Pictures (on Vista).

In addition to Trevor's suggestion, I would note that unless I am doing a slideshow (for which I normally use Movie Factory in any case), I don't bother about creating a library page or inserting the images there. I just right click in the timeline where I want the still images to go and choose 'Insert Image'. Then navigate to where the pictures are stored on the computer. I stress, however, that I only do this if inserting only one or two photos...
