I want to crop video files that have recorded. These may be in avi or high def in 4x3 or 16x9.
I want to select a section/size of the clip frame and then save the clip. I did do this before very simply when creating clips and saving them in previose Ulead video software. I have read and found cropping as a video filter but its not the same thing.
I would assume anyone who has recorded clips with a letter box and wants to loose the black strip would want to do the same thing
Sorry if this has been asked many time before, could not find with a search. Sorry if this is also a bumb question.

Hi
When you say ¡¥cropping¡¦ do you mean cutting the video to remove frames, This would reduce the length of the video.
Or are you trying to change the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3. or visa versa
The properties of your original video file would be useful.
Have a look at my guide ¡¥a look at widescreen 16:9¡¦ from the link below
This shows what a 16:9 should look like using VS and a method of changing the aspect ratio using the overlay track, can also be performed using the top video track as well.

Thanks I will take a look.
I mean you select an aread of the video with drag bars or define the area you wanted with a pixel count for top, bottom, right and left. Basically a box around what you wanted.
In the old days with Ulead Media Studio I just created a video clip which gave you the optuion to crop the size of the clip, drag sides or corners to the position required. You could keep the original size of the clip at lower quality.
Many thanks for your support on this
