Out of sync

Post by cgflembo »

After editing my project in VS11 everything seems to be working fine up until recently. I have found that when I have rendered my project that the audio and sound gradually goes out of sync with the video. This problem has only started recently and I found that if I re-rendered the project it was fine, but this no longer works. So I decided to re-install VS11 from scratch to see if this cures the problem, without any success. Am I setting something up wrong, or could there be something wrong with my laptop?

You didn't say what format your video files are... The Read This First... at the top of the forum tells you what we need to know... This used to happen to me rather frequently with MPEG-2 files. My solution was to buy a special-purpose MPEG editor. (I still use Corel/Ulead to author & burn DVDs, and for other formats.)

You can also try searching the forum for "sync" or "OOS" (OOS = Out Of Sync). There are several other potential fixes and work-arounds.
This problem has only started recently and I found that if I re-rendered the project it was fine, but this no longer works.
There is probably something "wrong" with this particular video file, or there is something about this particular file that Video Studio doesn't "like".

There is probably nothing wrong with your PC or your "installation".

In the past, rendering *without* SmartRender enabled, solved the out of sync problem for most people.

This was a common problem in v8 with MPEG-2 files. The fix was to turn of SmartRender. Versions 9 & 10 didn't seem to have this annoying problem. Give the SmartRender fix a try and see if that works.

I am using a hard drive camcorder for my video so it must be MPEG-2 and using upper field first when editing at all stages of the process. How do I turn off the Smartrender on the programe?

If, as we suggest, after you finish editing, your select Share > Create Video File and select either DVD, Same As First Video Clip or Same as Project Properties. A dialogue box opens asking you to give the new file a name. In that box, there is also an Options button. Click that and on the new screen that appears, you can disable SmartRender.
