Video Sudio10 se

Post by LjohnB »

I have installed VS10se without any problems and uninstalled my MF5.
1)When I turn the program on it switches my display to Vista Basic.
2) I cannot install any update patches. Message tells me I do not have VS10se installed.
3) When I import a file from a disc I created in my Panasonic DVD Recorder it inserts the picture but no sound(DVD_RTAV). This works fine in MF5.
Can you help me fix these problems. John

Welcome to the forums,

1). Yes this is correct. VS10 was developed prior to Vista, however Ulead (not Corel) produced a Vista Patch. However the "pretty cosmetics" (Aeros) must be disabled in order for VS10 to work. Also I've installed VS10+ (full version) with the Vista Patch on my Vista Laptop, and it still switches the display to Vista Basic.

Now the drawback is that you have an SE version, which is a free, bundled version. Patches will not install to TBYB (trial) SE, or VE versions. So you must run it under Compatibilty Mode XP SP1.

2). See #1.

3). What are the Video Clip's Audio Properties? I'll guess it is Dolby, which is a fee based technology, and is not supported in the SE, VE or TBYB versions. Dolby charges Ulead (Corel) for this.

Thank you for responding Vidman.
You are correct, the sound is Dolby, but your suggesting that the software was free must be incorrect. The software was bundled with Video Grabber, and I am sure somewhere in my purchase price would have been a fee to Ulead/Corel.
Oh well back to my old Movie Factory 5.
Many thanks

No the software (VS10se) is provided by the vendor free. In fact in the agreement Ulead/Corel forbids resale of the software. So for example on Ebay, you may see someone selling an SE version, which is illegal. But I guess if you wanted to break done the cost of the hardware, there might be a small fee for the software...
