Most features inactive! Help!!!

Post by Velvet Ghost »

I'm using WinDVD 9 Plus and have serious problems (in order of severity):

1) When playing DivX files or WMV files or most other encoded files for that matter, all software enhancement features and All2HD are greyed out. This is irrespective of whether hardware acceleration (DXVA) is enabled or not. I really needed de-snow on some of these!

2) When playing MPEG-2 files on my hard disk, All2HD is greyed out whether DXVA is enabled or not, although the other enhancements can be used if DXVA is disabled.

Thus, I can use All2HD ONLY when playing a purchased DVD directly from the drive. So, what's the use of having these excellent new enhancements if they're greyed out most of the time?

Also,

3) Playing a H.264 video (muxed in mp4) stutters horribly and CPU usage goes to 100% with or without DXVA. Media Player Classic using CoreAVC can play the same file smoothly with 20% CPU usage. However, I tried playing another raw H.264 file (not muxed in anything) and it ran perfectly with DXVA DISABLED. I could even use the software enhancements EXCLUDING All2HD. With DXVA enabled, the player crashed.

Please help!!! I'm totally confused.

My rig: Core 2 Duo (Santa Rosa) processor, 8600M GT GPU with LATEST drivers, Windows Vista 32-bit. Thus, certainly powerful enough to handle H.264. DXVA is obviously PureVideo HD.

many of those options/features require a digital source, whether DVD or output from something like OnAir GT HDTV. For the non-digital sources like avi's etc, those features will be grayed out.
