Choppy video and audio when viewing project

Post by leonc »

Hi,

I have a Sony AVCHD video camera and I use VS11.5. The problem is when I view the project both the video and audio are very choppy with the video seriously lagging behind the audio The audio is generally smoother while video is like a slideshow as it struggles to play. I have no such problem playing clips. Is it because my PC just doesn't meet the hardware requirements? I've also tried using Nero Vision 5 and have similar problems albeit not as bad as with VS.

Any ideas and help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

AVCHD is the most demanding of all video formats. Experience on this board suggests you need at least a Core 2 Duo for AVCHD to be processed correctly, and even play back smoothly. I think that is your problem. My old P4 3.0 GHz would edit it, very slowly, but it never played back smoothly. When I transferred the edited file to a Core 2 Duo, it played smoothly. And that is not just me talking, but quite a few others using AVCHD.
