Is the trial version of VS 11plus limited to no HD.

I can't seem to find anything other than mpeg2

Welcome to the forums!

It should do a wide variety of formats but had problems specifically with AVCHD/H.264. These were fixed with an update patch and the Power Pack which upgrades the full version to VS11.5+. However, neither of these will work on the trial version.

What variety of HD are you dealing with?

I'm trying to types.

AVCHD with m2ts files from an Canon Hf100

and H/264 .mp4 files from a Samsung SC-HMX10.

So i guess if i buy the full version these will work?

I have Studio 11 Utimate and it works fine with the .m2ts files but locks up on the H264.mp4 files.

I'm looking at VS 11.5 + to work with both. Do you know if it will?

Thanks in advance

Regarding the Canon, yes it will work. However, frankly I have no idea about the Samsung. Although high definition and using the H.264/mp4 codec, it is described in reviews as being only "similar" to AVCHD. Moreover, it films in what seems to me to be a slightly unusual frame format of 1280 x 720i, rather than a more normal 1440x1080i (let alone full high res of 1920x1080). I can't recall having seen that format in the VS11.5+ drop downs, and I can only wonder if there was an installation disc which came with the Samsung which might install a special version of the codec. Does the camera manual say anything about that?

By the way, I would recommend that you change your user name from your email address to something else. Using an email is just inviting bots that trawl the net looking precisely for emails that can be used in the transmission of spam and other nasties!
