WinDVD 9 Blu-Ray crashes on trying to enter A/V-Setup

Post by HDPro »

I've purchased Corel WinDVD 9 Plus Blu-ray for my HTPC but i can't get it running.

It crashes (Windows problem-report) when I attempt to playback a disc or if I try to enter the "Audio/Video Setup" in the configuration part.

My last try was to set up the hole system again to get a virgin system without any other possible problems. But that didn't help. The problem seems to be a codec/Hardware issue although I can use the installed Intervideo-codec with MediaPortal without problems.

- WinDVD version 9.0 B14.084
- Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2 with all Windows Updates (version 5.1.2600)
- Mainboard Asus M3N78-EMH HDMI with latest BIOS-version "0404"
- graphics: nVidia GeForce 8500 GT with latest WHQL-Forceware 175.16 (I tried it with the onboard GPU GeForce 8200 too but there was no difference)
- sound: onboard Realtek ALC883 HD Audio (driver V5.10.0.5532 for Windows XP/XP 64bit, WHQL)

- no device-conflicts, no virus software, no firewall, no other programms, nothing...

afterwards installed PowerDVD 7.3 Ultra works fine, MediaPortal V1.0.0.0 RC1 works (almost) fine.

Has anybody an idea what's going on with my WinDVD on my System? :?

Wondering what the "Detail" on the windows crash report says? Where in what module?
I've had no problem with Realtek 885. 883 should present no problem, though you might just check how you have it set up and assure latest driver - either from Asus or from Realtek site. I've had no problems with 175.16 and was running 169.something before that with no problem - I had to change because of a NWN problem. Run both Corel and Cyberlink "advisor" tests on your monitor/card/system to assure HDCP compliance:
From Corel site:
Display Device: If you are using a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) or HDMI (High-definition Multimedia Interface) connection to a digital output, please make sure the your display device is HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) compatible and your VGA supports HDCP.
I have no experience with XP MC. I was running XP SP2 plain before, but then went to Vista, and then got WinDVD9 BR.
