VS 11/11.5+ tips

Post by rguthrie »

Just thought I'd like to share these little nuggets:

TIP #1

VideoStudio 11 has a few new features, one is the My Favorites transitions folder. Here you can place transitions that you use the most, which is pretty handy. To use it, simply right-click on a transition and choose Add to My Favorites. To remove a transition from My Favorites, right-click on a transition in the My Favorites folder and choose Remove from My Favorites. Unfortunately, My Favorites is not the default transitions folder, Film is the default folder. However, we can easily change that.

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0

Double-click on uvs.ini

Change EffectFolder=Film to EffectFolder=My Favorites

Save & Close. That's it!

TIP #2

Give your mouse hand a break!
  • Capture Step: ALT+C

    Edit Step: ALT+E

    Effect Step (Transitions): ALT+F

    Audio Step: ALT+A

    Share Step: ALT+S
TIP #3

To delete a thumbnail AND its sourcefile press SHIFT+DEL.

Have fun and be creative!

P.S. Don't get nilly willy and start randomly editing your initialization files!

Ron, not to pick on your otherwise very helpful tips, but I believe you can simply change the default size of your overlay clips in Preferences. (Can't check this at the moment because I don't have VS on my laptop.)

How to in 11+

Post by CJStyle »

Can you set the length of the fade out on the clip in the Overlay timeline? If so how?

Is there a way to fade out at the end of the video...not just between clips?

CJStyle,

I'm assuming that you mean fading out video on an overlay track. Yes, you can. Look under the Preview Window and you'll see two black triangles: one left, one right. Hover the mouse over these and it'll say Pause duration. To increase the fade (out) length, drag the right triangle left; to shorten the fade length, drag the right triangle to the right.

To fade out and the end of a video, simply add a Black color clip and then apply the Fade to Black transition (it's in F/X effects).

What's the best way to do the black clip at the end (how do you create it?)

Thanks so much for the help I've been receiving in this forum!!!

You don't have to create it, it's already been created for you! Go the the Gallery and select Color. Now simply drag the black color clip to the Timeline. It's length can be adjusted just like any other clip.

BTW, this question would be more appropriate in the VideoStudio forum. Generally, only questions about a posted tutorial are asked in this section. :D
