Before deciding on what you wish to do, please read carefully http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=29031

I would recommend, for ease with VS, the use of DV as your intermediate format, such as one of the Canopus ADVC series. This will be. by far, the most hassle-free ways of converting your VHS tapes. You can also feed into it any TV streams from any receiving hardware that has analogue out.

While I agree with Devil about the benefits of DV, you need to be aware that in general, DV capture devices like the Canopus ones cost several times the cost of a USB one And as far as I am aware, they also don't come with a built in TV card from which you can also capture your favourite programs...

I have looked at the ASUS website for the card, but it doesn't give that information. However, no TV/capture card that I am aware of allows you to capture in DV format. I am sure the card would allow capture in full DVD format, however.

But it also does not appear to have a hardware encoder, so everything would be done by software.

The software that comes with the card is Cyberlink, which would usually mean that VS should also be able to capture from it. But I cannot guarantee that.

I would guess that you computer probably has enough enough resources to capture from such an internal card with no dropped frames, as long as you did not have too many other programs running at the same time.
