PSPP X2 Activation Questions

Post by michaeltee »

Hello,

PSPP X2 is my first (non-Ulead) Corel purchase and I'm running into some problems activating the ESD version of my software. During the installation I entered my serial number as directed and the installation completed successfully. The next day, upon closing X2 I received an on-screen prompt to "activate", stating I had "only 29 days" remaining on my TBYB. I then clicked the "Activate" button, however X2 doesn't detect my internet conection. I then tried the alternate method of entering my serial number, however the "Continue" button remains grayed out. Lastly I clicked the "Call Corel" button and the activation window simply disappeared. Additionally, closing X2 does not re-launch the activation window as stated in the activation "help" instructions. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!

Thanks,
-Mike

If I recall correctly when you click the Activate button nothing seems to happen. The next time you launch PSP you don't get the activate nag screen.
There is nothing in the program that shows it be activated and the splash screen still says TBYB - even in the Help / About screen.

To see if your activation was a success log on to your Corel User Account
at http://www.corel.com and check your list of registered software.

The nag screen reappeared yesterday. This time, clicking the "Activate" button returned a pop-up with the single word "OK" in the center. For the time being I'll interpret this to mean "you have successfully activated your software" ;-)

Rather odd that the "about" screen doesn't indicate/acknowledge registration status but as far as I can tell I'm good to go.

Thanks for the reply!

Also just a heads-up with PSP, it uses Protexis Licensing, which must be actively running or else PSP will not launch. You'll find this in the Services tab of your Task Manager.

The nag screen for activation only appears once a day, not every time you close the program.

Thanks for all the feedback. As it turns out, the "OK" screen I mentioned in an earlier post does not indicate a successful activation. It actually took a call to Corel to obtain an "Activation Code" which is different than the "Purchase Key" (aka; serial number). Tech-support will ask for an "Installation Code" which appears on the "Alternate Methods" segment of the activation window. Referencing this installation code, Corel will generate a unique activation key which when entered will complete the process. Lastly, the user receives a prompt to save the activation code for future use. This will be generated in the form of a text file which includes one's serial number. Should one wish to move PSPPX2 to a different machine a new activation code would be required.
