Can't create disk folders or disk image when burning DVD

Post by jparnold »

Lately when I create a DVD for my videos (SHARE) when I get to the last 'page' the ONLY option which I can choose from is "Burn to DVD" - the options to create (hard disk) folders and create disk image have disappeared. This does not happen all every time but when it does it is extremely annoying as I prefer to create my output dvd on hard disk and then (later) burn to DVD. What causes this and what must I do to fix this annoying problem.
Another annoying thing 'dogging' me is that when I rename the titles (from the actual filename which is the default) which appear on the created menu for each rendered file, I save the project but later when I reload the same project the filename of the LAST rendered file in the (DVD) menu has changed back to the actual filename.
Is this another (annoying) 'feature' of VS10+?

In addition to original post -
I forgot top mention that the first problem (disappearing options to create DVD folders) seems to be fixed if I shutdown my PC and then restart, reload VS10+ and the project. I have tried simply exiting VS10+ and starting it up again but that makes no difference). VERY strange.

Sounds like you may not have enough space left on the drives you chose to save them to. You need at least 12 Gb free for temp files and the file(s) you choose to create.

I just changed my working folder to a disk with 27GB free - the same problem exists.
Note though that if I load a project to create a DVD and then load a different project (to create a different DVD) then the problem occurs.

Doing further 'tests' it seems that VS10+ must have a problem when the user opens an existing project (for the creation of a DVD disk) after a different one (project to create a DVD) was previously opened.
Could someone check this to see if they also experience the problem.
I guess most of us after opening an existing project to create a disk (DVD) would not open another project to create a different disk (DVD).

the options to create (hard disk) folders and create disk image have disappeared.
Can I ask the simple question whether you still have the double downward pointing arrow over to the far right, in the final page of the burning module, of the 'Create Disc' 'Disc Format' lines? And if the double arrow button is still there, have you pressed it???

JP you have probably stumbled upon your own solution. Historically VS has been a bit of a slouch when coming to clearing out temp files and recognising that the previous temp files are not the one you are wanting to use now!
You could try the little trash can button in the final window of the burning module that offers to clean out the temps files and see if that helps.

Ken, I have not (accidentally or otherwise) clicked on the "hide output options' HOWEVER you have solved my problem. I just noticed that when I load the second project the 'hide output options' has mysteriously been activated (downward facing chevron) and when I click on it the options are revealed.
How do I become a BETA TESTER. It seems I (accidentally) have uncovered quite a few 'mysteries' (BUGS) of VS. I would LOVE to become a BETA TESTER.

Glad it is resolved. I have never worked out why that arrow is or is not activated, and that has been in successive versions, not just VS11. Sometimes I open the burning page and all options are there. Other times they are not. But at least I knew what the arrow was for!

As for being a Beta Tester, a lot of us feel the same. But it seems not be Corel policy to use users as testers! Some of us were beta testers on versions up to and including VS9. But since then, at least as far as I am aware, none of has been so used... Pity. And of course the cynics would add that we all become beta testers when they release the so-called final version of a new release and we discover all the flaws for them to rectify in the *next* version!!
