Oh yes sorry, the ini file will be located at

(Vista with VS11)
C:\Users\Stephen\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0\uvs.ini

Change Stephen to your XP/Vista user account name
(Alter 11.0 above for your version of Video Studio)

Well I tried that directory and the button does not show up.

I also tried C:\ProgramFiles\Ulead Systems\Ulead Video Studio 11\Ulead.dat\.uvs.ini and that did not work. Finally I tried C:\ProgramData\Ulead Systems\Ulead Video Studio\11\uvs.ini and the button shows up. I made the changes suggested in the above link, but when I go to render I get a ¡§Failed to open the MPEG encoder¡¨ error.

Were you able to get this to work on your Vista machine?

I got the advanced button to appear after changing the uvs.ini file in
C:\ProgramData\Ulead Systems\Ulead Video Studio\11\uvs.ini
I did not crash my system though when I did a test render.

I also changed the following
C:\Users\Stephen\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0\uvs.ini
C:\Users\All Users\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0\uvs.ini (Had to alter the Windows security settings granting full control to "Users")

It was only after altering the C:\ProgramData\Ulead Systems\Ulead Video Studio\11\uvs.ini that the button appeared.

I will give that a try, but first a couple of questions.
1. How did you alter windows security option for all users? Im kind of new to Vista.
2. Did you notice a difference in quality when using the advance settings?
Thanks

To change the Windows Security settings in Vista or XP (Pro only) you have to locate the file (or folder if you want to do a whole folder at a time) - using Windows Explorer. You then right click and select "Properties" and then select the "Security" tab.

I only had time to see if the advanced settings button appeared and just grabbed a sample clip and rendered it to make sure it didn't crash the system. Sorry but I am a bit busy at present with various household tasks and struggling to find time to do half the things I want to get done.

Well I got the security changed, but still getting the ¡§Failed to open the MPEG encoder¡¨ error. As soon as I change back the .ini file it works fine. Boy I wish I can get this thing to work!
