How to import a dvd without splitting by .vob or chapters

p.s. does it really matter anyway? I have Video Redo which will edit VOB files but outputs them to mpeg2, as did VS8 and as will VS9 if I ever get it working (then they put them back in VOB when you burn the DVD). I tried programs called infoedit and vobedit which turned out to be too complicated, and the video on the dvds I was stripping was always mpeg2 anyway. I doubt there is any difference in quality when the mpeg2 gets stripped out of the VOB (?)
