Can burn -RW discs but not -R

I have Ulead Video Studio 11+.

I have only recently had a problem with burning DVD's.

I can burn onto a -RW disc but not a -R disc.

I bought new -R discs and still the same problem, I try a new disc each time and am not trying to burn onto the same -R discs.

It goes through all the stages, multiplexing, VOB etc, but it is at the output stage where it comes up "Fail to Burn" (534-2147216291:0) error message.
I have it set on the lowest burn speed setting, x8.

Any help would be great.

I'm going to guess it's the burner... Do you have some other burning software you can try-out?

NOTE - If you check the box that says Create DVD Folders or Create DVD Image, you can burn directly from that image and you won't have to go through rendering, multiplexing, etc., every time you try a new experiment. And, you can use that image to try your other burning software.
