Project size fluctuates

I have seen similar problems posted, but the way it happens to me seems to be slightly different.

I have created and burned several projects and the size on the DVD seems to match the project size as estimated by DMF suite SE 3.5.

Sometimes on reopening the project the estimated size has magically jumped upwards, and will no longer fit on a 4.7 DVD.

NOTHING has been done to alter the original files or the project file in the mean time. If the project is then written to a hard drive directory then the DVD file size has reverted to the original (smaller) estimated size, although the project still estimates it as the larger size.

I believe it may have to do with the original files saying that they have a max bitrate of 9000, whilst they actually have one of about 4000. I am not sure if DMF starts to use a different direct show filter other than its own or something like that.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, especially if someone has a fix!

I agree that it likely has something to do with the original files being flagged as recorded at 9000 kbps but in reality they actual rate is much less.

As long as the project is open, DMF must keep track of the size and actual bit rate, but when you close and open the project, it doesn't recalulate the correct project size, but just uses the length and bit rate stored in the file.

This is just a guess and I'm sure incomplete.
