Nature of the problem: After completeing the project, and after all compiling completed and disc was going to be burned, I received an error that said : "Failed to burn data to disc." I tried again a few times and got the same error. Then I restarted the program and recompiled all the files, and got the same error message. After reading another users post about burning issues, I tried reducing burning speed to 4x (from 7X) and received a different error that read "Power Calibration failed" I have successfully burned many DVDs so I don't understand if this is a software or hardware issue.
Properties of your source files (format, file size, where did you get it?) Source files are AVI, 4:3, captured through MotionDV Studio LE from my camcorder.
What devices are involved and their mode of connection?
The burner is a LiteOn DVDRW LH-18A1P
Project Settings:

24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Frame-based

Audio data rate: 256 kbps

PAL or NTSC: not sure?
failure to burn DVD
Have you had success with Movie Factory, or with some other burning software?I have successfully burned many DVDs so I don't understand if this is a software or hardware issue.
If you have any other burning software you may have a conflict, especially if you have "drag-and-drop" burning software running in the background. You can try disabling your other burning software.
Or if you do have other (working) burning software, you can "burn" an "image" from to your hard drive (with Movie Factory), and then use your other software to burn that image to an actual DVD.
- When you get to the "burn" step, check the box that says Create DVD folders or Create Disc Image, and un-check Create To Disc. If that works, you'll get the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders (or an IMG file) on your hard drive.

I have been using DVDMF for several years now, staring with 2.0. The most common reason that I have had for "Failed to Burn Disk" or "Calibration error" messages was that my DVD burner was starting to go South. I would get one occasionally, then more and more often, then finally it would give up completely. One work around I found that gave me an extra month or two while I had time to get to the store to get another one was to burn the movie to an image file then use "Burn Now" to try to burn a DVD. Warning: if this fails to burn the DVD it usually burns enough onto the DVD to make it useless for another try.
Using Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150 tuner card
Thanks for the responses.
I have had good luck burning DVDs with MovieFactory until now. I have probably burned 20-30 DVDs with the same software and hardware. Perhaps the hardware is giving out. I have only had it though for a couple of years. That would be an easy fix. I worried that the software might have gotten corrupted somehow and I don't know how I would reinstall the software as I downloaded it and don't seem to have the install files on file. Is there a way to re-download with the same license and not have to pay again? I would like to try reinstalling the software alon gwith these other suggestions.
I will definitely try burning to file and then seeing if that complies properly, and see if I can put those files directly onto a DVD. I have several hours of editing time in on one prject and DON"T want it to go to waste!
Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks again.

what about the menu?
I am trying to do what was suggested and create DVD folders rather than burn to disc, but I think that leaves me without the menu on the DVD, is that correct?
I selected that option and the disc compiled so quickly and when I compared files on a disc successfully burned with MF, and the DVD files on disc, I see that there aren't any .ufo files which I think are the MF menu ones?
What a hassle I don't know how to get this working properly, even if this circumvent works...

Re: failure to burn DVD
I have been getting the "power calibration failed" message with MF 3 when trying to burn DVD's from an .iso file. It only happens on R/W DVD's. I have tried two different brands and get the same result. Any ideas?sarasweet wrote:Nature of the problem: After completeing the project, and after all compiling completed and disc was going to be burned, I received an error that said : "Failed to burn data to disc."
