Hi,
New to the board. Just bought MF6Plus + HD pack. Have installed (and reinstalled several times now!). I am trying to import avchd files from hard drive (saved from sony hd-sr11) but I get no further that selecting files and start to import.
Program then gives me the old 'unexpected error, program will close' message.
Can anyone give me any clues?
Cheers
Brenty
Shuts down at Step 1??
This is just a guess, but the files from your camera may not be compatible with Movie Factory.
I've seen a few posts from people having trouble with Sony files, especially AVCHD files... I don't know if everybody with a Sony HD camera has this problem.
I don't have a solution, but maybe someone else can help. Your camera has some file format options and you might want to try them all, but that won't help with your existing file.

I've installed MF4 on my Dad's pc, with all updates.
Worked fine, but, as Dad's do, he installs apps willy nilly, so every so often I reformat his drive and install all the stuff he needs again.
I've just done it again this week and now I get this problem.
Open up MF and choose to make video dvd.
Click on import file and choose a dv.avi
MF just closes.
Nothing in event viewer at all.
I can import stills in the make slideshow option.
And on further testing, it now closes when I click on import video, without even choosing a video file??????
XP pro with MF4 updated, VS 11+, nero, photoshop and a few other programmes but not many installed.

You're kidding! This is why I bought the darned program - so I could work with avchd files from my Sony HDR-S11.
Can anyone verify if this is a real problem or not

I deleted offending files in explorer and now the app works fine.
Can you try using any other video files you have and see if MF works ok?
You'll have at least one wmv supplied by windows.
The more complex and compressed files get the harder they are to work with and the easier they become corrupt, so whereas I wouldn't go so far to say that the files themselves may be incompatible, they may well be the problem.
