Yup. Can't do the hi def work without it. Still a heck of a deal with the added $20. I paid $550 for the full vegas. Although it's a great program and edits well (highly recommend it to those stuck for a MSP replacement), it can't do avchd disks anywhere near as good.Ken Berry wrote:Can we assume that you have installed the US$19.99 high def plug-in into your MF6+ set-up?
Pinnacle works... but no menus, and it re encodes all avchd files. It also can't import AC3 files. I as well as others on the Vegas site have played with quite a few avchd burning programs and to date, the best bang for the buck with the fewest headaches is MF6

I maybe missing something in this post but I have no problems in converting video from my Canon HG10 to play on a BD player (Sony S500).
In VS11.5 I import the video files, edit what I don't want add what I do want, I have done some overlay, always transitions, sometimes add audio sometimes remove a noisy original track. nearly always make the audio 5.1.
I then move to share select 'Create Disk' AVCHD and after a time Burn, after all that shove it in my BD player and view it in glorious 1080HD! my default settings are:
MPEG files
24 bits, 1440 x 1080, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(HDMV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 15000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
That's a one without 5.1 and my player upscales
Other than the time it takes I have had no problems with the above and or making AVI's MPG's etc.
So am I just lucky?

You should give the 5.1 a try. You can do some great things with it. I like to put my video track on center channel, then use the surround for back ground music, and I will set the rear speakers on a slight delay for the sound of depth. It sounds terrific.djmorgan wrote:

No luck involved!
In fact the thrust of this thread, and other posts that I and others have been making in recent days, has been that you can use VS11.5+ precisely in the way you do to produce excellent high def video on standard DVDs which will play in Blu-Ray burners, including the Play Station 3.
But it took some time to get the additions to VS11+ which today make it VS11.5+ which performs the above miracle. Whereas MF6+ as patched and updated has been doing it excellently for a longer time and with less hassle!

SUCCESS
Thanks folks, I picked up a Panasonic Blu Ray player and after updating it's firmware I put in the AVCHD disc I burned in one-step with menus and it played perfectly. Smooth as silk, amazing picture. Turns out I did it right the first time around, shockingly enough!
Westlight, special thanks to you for the PMs!
