Hi
Simple one for a change. Have VS8 and VS11 Plus (trial) on PC.
VS8 had an application to burn ISO images. It was in the main programme and called something like Burn IXA. I have used it several times succesfully with other projects even tho VS8 itself wont work with Vista.
Two questions if I may:
Is there an equivalent aplication with VS11 Plus? (cant see it but perhaps thats cos I have the trial)
Are these image burners more sensitive to disk type than other applications? (ie seem to be having probs using it to burn using 16*speed media etc)
Many thanks
Tony

Antonio,
VS11+ does come with the Disk Image Recorder utility. It can be optionally installed from the Bonus Content installation file/CD, and is not included with the TBYB (trial) version.
The only comment I can make about burning speed, is that most of us will burn our discs at the slower speed, generally around 4x to 8x. This is nothing scientific, just what has worked best for us.

Hi Videoman
Just my luck. Why are these applications always seens as "bonuses" and not included in trial versions?
Incidentally, for some reason I am now having all sorts of difficulty getting the VS8 image recorder to burn disks. Following everything to the letter of the law in creating the ISO image but then getting an error message when trying to burn a disk from the image. Error message as follows:
"Failed to record data to the disk. Code DVD R-DAO-SPTI-2A-02-05-63-00). Anyone clever enuf to know what this mumbo jumbo means?
Just occurs that this is probably the first time I've run the prog since installing VS11.5 Plus. Might it not be a coincidence?
Thanks for your rime

That sort of message usually appears when the burner has difficulty with the type of media it is trying to burn to. So first off, I would check whether you just had a dud disk or else your burner doesn't like that particular brand or type of blank.
Other than that, do you have something like the Nero Suite or Roxio DVD Creator Suite? Those can also burn disk images to DVD... And if you Google, I suspect you will probably find some freeware solutions too...

To clarify then

I had been using Shrink to condense DVDs (either legitimately acquired commercial ones or my own projects).
Shrink would allow creation of:
TS Folders
ISO Images
Burn DVD
Unfortunately the last option was not available when I got my new PC with Vista cos Shrink was not recognising Roxio (previous version of Nero I used had known compatibility issues with Vista).
For about 4 months I used Shrink to create ISO and then the VS8 burning module (MMC I think) to burn to DVD. I had no probs at all (MMC burning engine is compatible with every conceivable sort of media).
I will try Roxio as you state and report back. It still occurs that it may be the burning engine as I used a a variety of media before but never had a problem. Can we be sure that VS8 ISO recorder is unaffected by my trial VS11.5 Plus?
