Mask Frame

Post by Rich2Putt »

In VS10+, the total number of mask's is 14 in the VS window.

In file c:\program files\video studio\sample\images (this file has 21 mask frames.

Why don't these mask frames appear in VS10+ ???

There is no + sign or "slider" on the side of my 14 mask selections to view the rest of them. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rich

Rich,

I only show 17 masked frames in the folder you specified. The others found there are just images.

You can create a new folder in your images library, and import those extra images. To use them just place the "masked frame image" on an overlay track. On the attributes tab, select Use Overlay Options, Chroma-Key. Most of the mask frames use the gray-scale color, so selecting white for the chroma-key color will allow the image to be used as a mask.

I just reposted since a careful reading showed that we're talking about 10+ (not 11.5+) like I originally posted. Anyway I have :

Here's some screenshots of that directory, showing the thumbnail images of the bitmap masks, and the jpeg images. Masks must be 8-bit gray scale bitmap images for VS to use them as masks. The other images in that folder are JPEG, 24 bit images, and can not be used as or considered a mask image.

Yes it is..:),

I've used VS (Ulead) for several years, and was not aware that they used a competitors program. I checked one of the images included with VS8 and it shows the same

I recently purchased PhotoImpact x3. On page 185 of the manual, it shows a + sign where the Mask Frames in PhotoImpact would be once created.

I copied the Mask Frames I created in the c:\xxxxx\xxxx\xxxxx\samples\images & I don't find them once I open VS10+. Also in the \sample\images I also see Mask Frames M1 thru M14 & a few more M20 ?(don't remember I'm at work). Don't understand why they don't appear in VS.

Thanks,
Rich

Rich,

Add them to your mask library.

Open VS, place anything on the Overlay Track.

Select Attribute tab.

Select Apply Overlay options and choose Mask Frame for type.

Now you should see a + icon which will let you add all the masks you want.

If I recall correctly, VS10+ does not allow adding mask frames. This was a new feature added to VS11+.

In VS10 you have to cheat by replacing an existing mask frame with your own giving it the exact same name of the one being replaced.
Don't forget to save a copy of the original mask frame before you do so.
