Post by jrbmaclachlan »

I have bought a canopus ADVC-55 analogue to digital converter. Ulead ver 11plus does not recognise it . It come up with a message "unable to switch to capture mode. Anty ideas?

For some reason it now works. There is a light on the converter which must be green

There is a bug in VS11/11+ which did not allow capture from an analogue source via a Firewire device such as yours. At most it would allow a few seconds capture. It was corrected -- at least for some devices -- by the 6 November 2007 update patch available on the Ulead.com website under the Download button on the top. While you are at it, also download and install the Power Pack which will upgrade your VS11+ to VS11.5+. Do NOT install the Hot Fix as you obviously already have VS installed and running. The Hot Fix was only meant to cover a flaw in the installation process which some people experienced...

very many thanks Ken
It now seems to work. At the sugestion of another site I went to "run" and ran regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\qdv.dll. I am not sure what it did but it seems to have helped
The other thing I found is to make sure the video maching is playing before you press "capture video". I had been doing it the other way round
